A practical, functional approach that incorporates various evidence-based and emerging methods is used to provide truly individualized and consistent services. Various means of communication and learning are addressed, while different learning modalities and teaching styles are utilized depending on the task and/or the child's needs. You may find us running & yelling, whispering & snuggled on a tuffet, or sitting at the table doing more structured work. Home-practice materials or methods are provided and often are custom designed for each individual.
Your child's communication disorder may be the primary concern, or there may be other issues to address related to autism, cognitive function, hearing impairment, or other disorders.
Following a document review or evaluation, parents are able to design their own program plan based on time schedule and financial considerations.
TWO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
1) My child is ( 2 ) years old. Is that too early for therapy?
No! The earlier the child starts intervention, the better the progress. The need for service is determined either at the consultation or the evaluation.
2) My (third) grader is having difficulty reading. What causes this kind of problem?
There is often no known cause for a reading disorder/disability. Despite this, your
child can benefit from intervention. Your child may need to establish a better
language foundation for improved comprehension. Perhaps she/he needs to stabilize
phonics or sight-word skills, or learn to sequence from one sound/letter/word to the
next. All these can be addressed at this facility.
